Rogue Chan Bar
Rogue Athlete Matt Chan designed an American-made barbell just by his experience. Being a formerfirefighter and top finisher around four times at the Crossfit games, the opinions of Matt are considered highly as he knows how to carry weight around. This lead Rogue to invite him to Columbus to give an idea for a barbell that comes with qualities of both, powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting. The Matt Chan Bar is constructed with the same quality as of the U.S. steel in Ohio Bar, having both powerlifting and Olympic lifting knurl marks. Matt added a submissive center knurling in the bar. This knurling gave the athletes, that extra little“stick” especially in the back squatting or front rack position, but in any way it won’t damage your skin, just like more hostile center knurls do. By increasing the distance between the outer knurling, Matt gives the wider posture on deadlifts and cleans without thinking of scrapping of skin due to knurling. However it is recommended to do maintenance by using a mild detergent and plastic brush to clean the knurl. Then just wipe the bar with a three in one oil and finish by removing any oil with a towel.

American Barbell California Bar
The California Bar is American Barbell’s first constructed dual marked CrossFit bar, and it was made to challenge Rogue Ohio Bar 2.0. However, in the last couple of years, it had some nice upgrades that has put the California’s specifications and the price, much greater in line with high end multi-purpose bars like classic Rogue Bar and SS Ohio Bar. The California Bar matches the industry standard of 190,000 PSI alloy steel shaft. It comes with dual IPF/IWF markings, having no center knurl, which makes the sleeves spin freely and reliably on high-load compound bushings rather than traditional bronze bushings. What makes the California bar completely genuine from any other multi-purpose bar on the market is its finish. The bar is coated with a black graphite Cerakote finish, having the same oxidation prevent finish used for firearms. This finish is neat and repetitive looking, completely rust-proof, and standard tacky. Some other features that makes the California Bar different from the Rogue bars, is the use of actual 28 mm shaft rather than the usual 28.5 mm shaft, and the use of manufacturers chrome for the sleeves rather than cheaper black zinc. The Stainless Steel Bearing Bar is American Barbell’s is one of their best Olympic bar made, but also they comes in the list of most expensive bars. The core specifications for this bar are very much like the Rogue Olympic Weight lifting Bar. Both are 20 kg, 28 mm Olympic bearing bars, and both are built around a 190,000 PSI steel shaft.

American Barbell Stainless Steel Olympic Bar
Stainless steel is extravagant to every other shaft material or finish option, not only because of its resistance to oxidation, but also because stainless steel gives a standard and secure grip that no applied finish can compare to. Stainless bars don’t stick to your hands with an overly aggressive knurl to, making them suitable for long work out sessions. The American Barbell Stainless Steel shaft is one of only two bar shafts that have a maximum rating of 10/10 for knurl and grip quality. The sleeves gives an aesthetic look and are chrome resistant, the grip is powerful and completely secure, the bearings have the ability to handle more weight, than even Dmitry could put on the bar, and the whip is better than regular. This bar is as multi-purpose as it is beautiful, and with all such options and features it has a very reasonable price for such a prime piece of equipment.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Stainless steel is resistant to oxidation. | Due to stainless steel it’s very much expensive. |
Knurl and grip quality is superior to any other bar. | |
The sleeves are resistant. |
Vulcan One Basic Economy Bar
The Vulcan One Basic is one of the best bar with respect to saving economy of CrossFit/multi-purpose bars currently available on the market. Having features like, the other 190,000 PSI bars like the Rogue Bar 2.0, Ohio Bar, and the California Bar, and even at that lesser price it consist of some features that make it more appealing. For beginners, the 20 kg One Basic is completely chrome plated, with no zinc. It also has an actual 28 mm shaft rather than 28.5 mm. And the best part of Vulcan One Basic, is that it ships for free unlike the Rogue and American Barbell bars. The Vulcan One Basic Economy bar comes in both, men’s 20 kg and women’s 15 kg version. These two bars used to be coated with black zinc finish, but that finish easily scratched and chipped away, so from then Vulcan started using chrome plating. This bar can work as a good alternative with some good mid-range bars. When compared to the fewer imports like the Team Bar, Bomba, and other similar bars from Amazon or small CrossFit shops, the difference is shown in quality and performance of night and day.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
One of the very affordable bar that gives exactly same features of expensive ones. | Durability maybe a matter of concern because of its cheapness. |
Comes in two version of 20kg and 15kg for both men and women. | |
Consist of Chrome plating which doesn’t chip off. |
Ivanko OB Olympic Bar
When it comes to testing their bar thoroughly than no other company, then Ivanko Barbell is the first name that clicks in mind. Each and every premium bar is tested for faults in the steel with basically less than three tests: x-ray, mag, and ultra-sonic. Ivanko bars are also straightness tested to make sure that no deflection greater than 0.006/ft over the length of the bar exists. The OB-20KG Olympic bar is a polished coated black oxide, actual 28 mm Olympic bar having a steel shaft which is rated at 200,000+ PSI. The price of this bar is extremely reasonable for an Ivanko bar. The Ivanko OB also comes in a stainless steel version, the OBS-20KG Olympic Bar and that bar is rated at 218,000 PSI, but is pretty much expensive due to stainless steel. Both bars are fantastic, but the oxide bar is more budget friendly, and if you’re willing to pay for stainless, you really should consider the AB Stainless Steel Bar more.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
The price of the bar is reasonable which suits the pocket. | Coating of black oxide may chip off after several use. |
Comes with a massive 200000 PSI tensile strength. | |
Company thoroughly examines the bar to find any defects. |
Vulcan Professional Needle Bearing Olympic Bar
The Vulcan’s high-end Olympic Weightlifting bar, is a bar not only comparable to the IWF training bars (DHS, Elieko, Zhangkong) but probably much superior to them. The Vulcan Professional is a 20 kg, 28 mm needle bearing bar. The shaft specifications blow all other professional bars out of the water – it has a sick, lab-verified tensile strength of over 240,000 PSI and a yield strength of 223,000 PSI. The yield is higher than the tensile strength of all other professional Olympic bars, meaning it would take an act of God or an almost deliberate form of negligence to put a permanent bend in it. The Vulcan Pro is said to be one of the most elastic Olympic bars on the market, displaying its reflexes properties well at moderate weights, and better than even an Eleiko at heavy weights. It’s finished completely in engineered, hard chrome; which is both beautiful and thick enough to contribute to the bar’s overall strength. This is an end-game Olympic bar, and if you choose to purchase another Olympic bar after purchasing the Vulcan Pro, it will be for the fun of it, not out of necessity.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Comes with a massive tensile strength of 240000 PSI | The bar is expensive, like a lot. |
Very much elastically stable bar available in the market. | |
Consist of Chrome plating which doesn’t chip off. |
